Beginner Brewing Class

Learn the easiest way to make beer using 5 gallon recipe kits! During this 4-hour beginner brewing class, you will participate in brewing a 5-gallon batch of beer from a recipe kit. You’ll learn the basics of equipment, ingredients, and supplies needed to make beer at home. A professional brewer instructs you on the essentials of cleaning and sanitizing, brew day step-by-step, and bottling beer. You’ll see not only how easy the process is to make homebrew, but you’ll also have fun while learning in the Tom’s Brew Shop and 6 and 40 Brewery and Taproom space.

Introduction to All-Grain Homebrewing Class

Whether you’re a noob or have been brewing with extract recipe kits for years, Introduction to All Grain Brewing will help you learn the ins and outs of the mash. A professional brewer will walk you through an all-grain brew day from start to finish. You’ll learn about the basics of brewing water chemistry, the mash process, different techniques for sparging, and the fundamentals of recipe design while brewing 5 gallons on an all-in-one electric brewing system.

Price: $35

Tasting Beer Part 1: Ingredients and Descriptions

Are you ready to build your beer vocabulary? If you’re interested craft beer but sometimes lack the words to describe what you’re tasting and smelling, this class is for you! During this session, an instructor leads attendees through the building blocks of beer: water, barley, hops and yeast. Students will taste and smell through a variety of beer ingredients, then complete the class with a flight of beer from 6 and 40 Brewery.

Tasting Beer Part 2: Beer Styles and Origins

Where do beer style names and descriptions come from? What makes a Belgian Tripel a Belgian Tripel?

If you’ve ever been overwhelmed by the options at your local taproom, this class is for you! Enjoy a flight of beer with a professional brewer while learning about objective methods for beer sensory analysis, beer style origins, and the various organizations that try to make sense of the rapidly changing beer world. During this 90-minute session, you’ll learn about tasting beer, developing your palate, and receive a high level overview of the Beer Judge Certification Program.
